Royal

It was like the weekend couldn't come fast enough. Pharaoh said he wanted to take me away for the whole week and I was more than ready to go. The trip was supposed to help me get my mind together for school. After the whole thing at the park I could use some time away. The only problem was I didn't know where the hell my mom was going to go. I had planned to ask Adira to watch Paige but I didn't want to ask her to watch my mother too. How did that even sound asking another woman to watch a grown woman? I laughed at the idea because it was truly a funny one.

Pharaoh was still sleep but I wanted to go and take my permit test. I needed him to wake up so he could make sure that Paige would be straight.

"Pharaoh wake up," I said, pushing him a little.

"Leave me alone, it's too early for this shit," he said, rolling over.

"Pharaoh I need to go and I don't want to leave Paige up with my mother."

"Ight. I'm getting up now, damn," he grumbled, sitting up. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and looked at me. "Where you going so early anyway?"

"I'm going to take my permit test. The faster I do it the faster I can drive my car," I grinned.

"You can drive your car down to the DMV, but don't be speeding Royal."

"Boy, I'm not gonna speed, I'm about to glide."

"Ight be safe Slim, I love you."

"I love you too," I told him and gave him a kiss.

"Hit me when you're on your way back and good luck."

I heard him say it but I didn't respond because I was already out of the bedroom. I looked in Paige's room and she was still asleep, but I didn't see my mother. Walking in the living room my mother was sitting on the couch with a robe on. Now normally I would have said something to her, but I didn't have enough fight in me so I just left. I hopped in my car and drove to the DMV. It didn't take me long to get there but it did take them forever to call my damn name. Thirty minutes later I went in the back to take my test.

"Ms. Preston, you have passed your test. Come back in six months and you can do your road test," the lady behind the counter said.

"Thank you so much." I was so hype that I passed my test because I was a little nervous. I got back in my car and sent Pharaoh a text telling him I was on my way back home and that I passed my test. I was about to pull out the drive away when I got a call from Adira.

"Hey Adira."

"Hey Royal honey. How is everything going?"

"Everything is alright. Pharaoh and I are getting along."
