Chapter Seven

E-40’s “I Stand On That” slapped through the many speakers scattered throughout the frat house. The girls were barely clothed, and the guys were loving it. There was a stage where a live band played, but a deejay was also on deck between breaks. Trays of drinks were flowing, along with Jell-O shots, edibles, and a platter just for coke. Drummer was back in the cut, counting money, surrounded by bitches and bottles, getting lit. With a blunt dangling from his lip, he added up almost 4K already, and it wasn’t even midnight. Beside him, his girl, Xoe, was taking shots with her homegirl. Drummer was the man around here. He was making money every hour on the fucking hour. Beside him, his boy Magnus was posted with all kinds of bitches in his face. They were living the fucking life. Every nigga in this party wanted to be them.

“Mmm, let me try some candy.” Xoe planted a kiss on Drummer’s cheek as his phone buzzed in his pocket.

“Man, fuck them. How much you got left?” Drummer wasn’t worried about Xoe.

She acted up tonight and he was just going to pretend like he didn’t know her. He was here for one thing only, to get paid. That’s why he hadn’t gotten that faded. After breaking down a brick and splitting it between two middle level niggas in the hood, he had a brick left to get off. So far, he and Magnus had been breaking these motherfuckers off at this party.

“I got two packs on me.”

“A’ight, we good. I’m meeting up with another nigga tomorrow to cop the rest. Bust one of them packs open,” Drummer urged him.

He wanted to taste the supply, and with the grin that lit up Magnus’s face, he was pretty sure he wanted to as well. They had made enough money and could afford to play around a little bit with what they were working with. Drummer just wanted to turn the fuck up. He was making a killing with this product, and all he saw was the rapper lifestyle ahead as he got deeper into the game. His brother might have been willing to leave all this money around this motherfucker, but Drummer was about to eat. He couldn’t understand or relate to Dyver’s mindset. His brother was raised off the blocks and hustling.

Ever since they went to live with their
