“I’m sorry I been MIA my muse. I just had a lot of work shit going on. Everything is under control now so I wanted to take my daughter out to lunch,” my dad smiled and said to me as he sliced into our deep-dish pizza. We woke up early and went to paint downtown on the river walk. We caught a wonderful sight of these two St. Bernard dogs being walked. Their fur was beautiful and sparkling under the sun. The water from the river made it look even more breathtaking. My dad drew the people walking them as well. I, however, chose not to and just focus on the animals and the nature side of the moment. Now we were at Pizza Papalis by Greektown Casino. We ordered a meat lovers deep dish pizza with extra cheese.

“I’m glad everything is ok with work daddy. Uncle D had Dreka worried as well but I understand how work can be for the both of y’all. You didn’t miss much here anyway,” I opted out of telling him about me and Kenyatta fall out. First of all my dad probably would want me to stay away from him if he knew he was in anything illegal. I loved Kenyatta and didn’t want to choose between him and my dad.

“Erin, have you talked to your mother or her son?” My stomach did a flip because I wanted to tell him about Lonell getting locked up and about Jamie father being behind it. I just didn’t want to involve my dad. I know him, my uncle D and Lonell are cool and were really cool back in the day.

“Um I haven’t talked to mama but Jamie texted me yesterday. He wants to meet up-----”

“No. Do not meet up with him Erin, under no circumstances. You hear me,” I looked at my dad face and he was dead ass serious. He had an expression that I never seen on his face before. Almost like he was about to fuck some shit up.

“Dad, what is going on? Why did you snap like that, is something going on with him?” I asked him and I could look at his face and tell he was holding something back.

“No muse, it’s nothing. I just don’t want you talking to him until I talk to your mama about some shit,” What?! Now I was confused and had more questions.

“Daddy, I know you are a cop. You have access to what happens and who gets locked up. Does Lonell getting locked up have anything to do with you not wanting me to talk to Jamie? Please tell me,” I really wanted to know what he knew. He looked at me for a minute before he said.

“I know about Lonell getting locked up but because it’s not my case I have no access to it. I do know your with Kenyatta who is Lonell’s nephew and I want you safe. That’s all I know and need to know. I have no involvement in Lonell’s affairs but like I said, you’re with his nephew.
