You know Peso, the little penguin from Octonauts? When Jack was two he was OBSESSED with Peso. He had a little plastic toy Peso that would ride along the floor. He wanted to take it into day care so badly. He begged. I said no. He pleaded. I said no. He was really getting on my nerves, so I said, ‘Sure, but if you lose Peso, he is gone forever.’

‘Absolutely, I will not lose Peso.’

We all know how that story ended. And no, I didn’t wander around the day care helping him look for Peso. I didn’t buy him another one. I’d told him that was the deal, and that was it.
