The company Christie Digital in 2012 introduced a prototype of a 3D laser projector at the technology convention IBC in Amsterdam. The laser technology guarantees a minimum luminance level for 3D equivalent to the 2D standards, and the result was truly stunning. The attendees noted that the impression of depth and sharpness was increased tenfold, and the eyestrain greatly reduced. The laser technology has already been installed in selected theaters around the world and is scheduled to become widely available to the public within a few years.
