51 Organizing the Blues

WYNONNA JUDD

When I have the blues I start organizing my house—if you want to get out of a funk, clean up your junk! Start with the basics, the sock and underwear drawers, and move up the stuff chain. The more clutter you remove from your physical world, the more your emotional load will lighten. As you start to feel more organized, a cleansing process begins. There is an additional benefit to organizing your drawers and closets. I usually find something in my junk that sparks a memory that will cause me to laugh or cry, a recollection that will take me to a different place.

Then I remember “this too shall pass.”

Very soon the darkness turns to light and I can move on.

I also try to remember a lesson I learned from Mother Teresa’s example: There are people with far greater problems than mine. That’s when I say to myself: Quit complaining! Get off your butt and do something that helps ease somebody else’s troubles!

As lead vocalist of the Judds, Wynonna was part of a phenomenon seldom seen in the industry. The mother/daughter duo won over sixty major industry awards, including five Grammys, nine Country Music Awards, and eight Billboard awards. Solo, Wynonna has won nineteen major industry awards, including the Academy of Country Music’s Top Female Vocalist. You can visit her website at www.wynonna.com.
