Let's take a moment to look at how you can add custom fields to a WordPress post. Log in to the Dashboard and create a new post. Have a look at the bottom of the page. There is a form there that allows you to add Custom Fields:

You can create a new custom field, or you can choose from an existing one. Either way, when you save your post, this custom field is saved along with it.
