“God. Why do five pieces of chicken cost so much,” I mutter as I look at the prices.

“You think that’s bad, look at this. Who the hell wants to pay eighty-five bucks for a roast?” Aubrey asks, holding it up.

“Nope. No thanks. I’d rather take the trip into the city to get lower prices.” Students and staff at Calling Wood are lucky enough to get discounts on most things, making it more affordable to live here. A lot of the time, people who live here and run businesses don’t shop here because of the prices. But hey, it’s how the world is right now, everything costs an arm and a leg. Nothing we can do about it.

I throw two packs of chicken breasts into the cart and continue down the aisle. We’ve hardly made it down two more before the cart is half full. “Aubs, baby, we came here for ingredients to make chicken parm. You’ve done a full grocery shop.”

“Ugh.” She looks at the cart. “I shouldn’t go shopping while hungry.”

“Come on.” I laugh. “Let’s get the last few things we need and then get out of here. I’ll make all my lovers a yummy meal and then we can hang out and watch a movie.”

She hums with a soft smile. “I do like that idea. But sex, right? Before bed.”

I bite my bottom lip. “Only if it’s me making you scream this time.”

“God, yes, please,” she groans. “Come on!”

I giggle as she rushes around the store, grabbing the last bit before racing to the cashier.

We have everything bagged and back into the cart when I look up and see two people walking into the store.

My heart starts to race, and my palms grow sweaty. Chandler and Dane. They’re still here?

“What the hell?” Aubrey mutters as she sees them too. “What the fuck are they still doing in town?”

I stand there for a moment and just watch them. Something in me screams to go over to them, to touch them, feel them. To have them wrap their arms around me and cradle me in their hold.

A whimper slips free, snapping me out of it. “Come on.”

Aubrey gives me a concerned look. “Are you okay?”

I swallow hard and nod. “Yes. Can we just go, please.”

“Of course.” We head for the door. I can’t help but send one more look in their direction before stepping out of the door. And when I do, I find Chandler watching me, this longing look in his eyes that has my chest aching.

I really don’t have any idea what I’m going to do regarding them and it’s fucking with my emotions.
