About an hour later, we wrapped up the shoot, and I felt like I had plenty of choices to showcase the Medusa for my application portfolio. After all, Rayme and Vivien were both very good at what they did. Vivien and the dress were both showstoppers.

Vivien was laughing and her cheeks were tinged pink. She wiggled a little in joy as we went back behind my makeshift changing station, me holding the massive train of the dress so it didn’t drag on the floor.

“That was so much fun!”

She stopped and propped her hands on her hips, waiting for me to unlace the dress and let her out.

I felt something like relief. One more task accomplished. One more thing I could take off my to-do list and mental load.

I started pulling on the laces, but Vivien shot me a devious look over her shoulder. “So.”

I felt my cheeks redden even though she hadn’t said anything else or asked any questions. “So.”

“You haven’t given me any updates about your boy.”

I finished unlacing her, holding up the sides of the bodice so that she could step out. “He’s not my boy.”

Her dark, perfectly sculpted eyebrows rose and her mouth quirked. Something in the tone of my voice must have put that look on her face. “Mm-hmm.”

I sighed, wrapping the Medusa up safe and sound again while Vivien pulled back on all her clothes.

“Do you have time for lunch?”

She pulled her damp hair back up into a messy bun. “I’m already ahead of you. Apparently, there’s a used bookstore around here somewhere that Tobias wants to check out. So, I have a few hours while he wanders.”
