The Battle of Hastings marked a major milestone in English history. It was the first of and one of the most decisive battles of the invasion of the Normans in the eleventh century. The Normans’ triumph meant irrevocable changes in the governance of England. It would also closely link the fates and histories of France and England for the next few centuries. A number of military conflicts would arise as a result.
