Transcripts and Text Alternatives

Given what is required in terms of time and or money to produce captioned content, it’s sometimes necessary to provide a text transcript of video content. And in the case of audio, transcripts are the only way to associate a text equivalent. Transcripts are a basic requirement for meeting WCAG 2 with prerecorded media. It’s also the best first step for creating synchronized captions.

In fact, if you’ve scripted your audio segments beforehand, there’s virtually no work necessary to it. Just upload your script, edited for any ad-libbed material. The bonus here is that you’ve just made your video more searchable. Very few search engines to date have done anything with video, so text is still the lingua franca.
