Phillipe motioned to Lloyd. ‘Pass me your corn candy.’

Lloyd tucked his chin in. ‘Why?’

‘I forgot to get kernel currency, so we’ll have to pay this guy in candy.’

Lloyd handed over a small bag. ‘Just so you know, I licked some of it.’

‘Gross.’ Phillipe pulled a face and slung his guitar over his back, then offered the driver a hoof-full of corn candies as payment. ‘Can you wait for us? We won’t be long.’

The rooster glanced at the road ahead. Then at the candy. ‘Ten minutes and I’m gone. This place gives me the creeps.’
