Chapter 42

Finn

I’m sitting on the couch in Holden’s room, waiting for Pax to finish up with his post workout routine. I’ve been up all night, fuming. While we’ve been playing it safe, trying to be nice and take it easy with Thea, The Big Bad Wolfe has her huffing and puffing on his cock.

If this were anyone else, any other student or teacher, I’d shut that shit down. But, my pet has been through a lot and if sneaking around with him brings her joy, who am I to take it from her?

She’s had enough bad in her life so far. She deserves to be with someone who makes her feel wanted. I mean, I want her -so damn bad- but until she’s ready to forgive me; I don’t want her to feel lonely.

I glance over at my best friend. He looks just as conflicted as I do. We haven’t addressed how he feels about her, but now might be the best time to do it. Without Pax around. “You like her.”

“Yes.”

“Do you feel guilty about chasing her?”

“Why would I? I chased Thea, because I like her. I’m upset I let her get away. If I would have caught her, she wouldn’t have been hurt by anyone else.”

“But you don’t feel guilty about that?”

“No, Finn. What I feel is a desire to dish out a similar punishment to whoever touched my girl.”

Holden doesn’t make comments lightly. His girl. She’s my girl. “Our girl.”

He dips his head in agreement. Good. Now we need to figure out how to make her our girl, because right now she’s Coach Wolfe’s girl. “We have to get her back. She can’t be running around here, hooking up with Coach Wolfe. If anyone found out…”

“It would be leverage against him. Do we care about that?”

“I care what they’ll say about her. That whatever grade she’s earned in his class is because they’re sleeping together.”

I’ve seen her grades. She’s passing Physical Enhancement. The girls who are not in MISTIC rarely score as high as she has, without augmenting their training.

“Let them talk. It’ll be the last thing they say about her. Ever.”

I can get onboard with that sentiment. Holden grabs his and Pax’s coffee and walks toward the door. I snatch one from his hand. “I’ve been up all night. I need this more than he does.”

We let ourselves into Pax’s room just as he’s coming out of his bedroom. He’s dressed, except for his shirt. He probably didn’t put it on yet because he was afraid to wrinkle it. Just once, I’d like this guy to be a little messy and chaotic.

He looks at Holden holding one coffee cup. “No coffee?”

“Finn took yours.”

I shrug and sip loudly before passing the cup over to Pax. Those few sips should hold me until we get to breakfast and I get some fuel in my system. We ride down to the lobby and I take my seat to watch the show. This will be one of the last ones until next semester.
