I feel like

A sunny moment

On a country day

On the front

Porch drinking sweet

Tea and eating ham

Sandwiches while

The fragrance of

Green grass danced

In the air and pulling

Into the drive way

Were aunts and uncles

Not to mention all

The cousins and

Play cousins ready

For times shared

Doing much of nothing

And at some point

We knew the green beans

That Grandma Earlene

Were snapping would

Eventually be accompanied

By friend chicken

By potato salad

By Rice

By giblet gravy

And a table full of

Everyone while the

Kids sat at another table

Away from grown folk conversation

It was all love

All a part of the plan

How we groomed one another

To instill whatever it was

That was going to give

Us a piece of life although

There were always a few that

Strayed off and deviated

These moments were

A slice of pecan pie

With a scoop of homemade

Vanilla bean ice cream

Nothing fancy about it

Elegance had nothing

To do with it but we

Were together and although

We were miles and miles

Away from being perfect

We were together

I feel better than ever

I feel good
