The Elections

FOR FIFTEEN YEARS I didn't vote

but this time I don't know what caught hold of me

maybe the need for something new

a fresh feeling

you go

enter the polling station

and do something completely

banal

put a slip into an envelope

and hope

you decide the future of some ex-generals

and some future politicians

I went and voted of course

against

but after I voted and my candidate won

I wanted to change him

I was immediately against him

I want elections every second day

every hour

if possible

everyday we'll change someone

everyday they will fight

like gladiators in the arena

and we will put in slips

and more slips

For fifteen years I didn't vote and I

know I caused a terrible suffering

to half of the people

they just loved the other candidate

and I didn't love anyone

and I don't know why

what got into me

that I spoiled their love

mostly I am a very liberal man

when it comes to sex.
