Making Up
I believe I was in the 11th grade when I got really interested in wearing makeup. Iâm not sure if the smooth, soft eyeliner was invented yet because all the girls at school had to use a lighter or a match to soften it up before they could use it. I got a small stick of eyeliner from a friend when I saw her putting some on in the bathroom one day. I put some on, but I made sure I wiped it off before I got home. But then I asked my aunt if it was all right for me to use it, surprisingly she said yes. I kept things pretty simple (eye liner and lip gloss) because I didnât have money to get a bunch of stuff and didnât know how to use much of anything else anyway.
The feeling of seeing yourself in a whole new way can be fun and exciting! I love to try out a new colors of lip gloss and eye colors! Donât be ashamed of wanting to upgrade your looks a little. Remember however, that cosmetics donât make you pretty, you are pretty all on your own; make up simply compliments what God has already done. Some ladies wear a full suit of makeup and underneath their skin is flawless and beautiful. Some ladies wear make up to cover up blemishes and scars. You have to be careful to clean your face before and after you wear makeup. Putting it on dirty skin locks the dirt deeper in your pores and contaminates your applicator brushes, so you are just putting dirt on your face over and over which will cause you to have breakouts/acne. If you already have acne, it will only make things worse! Clean the brushes as well as your skin.
Okay, letâs look at the words themselves: Make Up. To makeup means to re-do, to do again, or to pretend, or invent. Why would anyone want to âmake upâ a face? I believe that makeup should accentuate or spruce up what you already have. For the most part the trend in makeup is the barest of bare, just light accents and not heavy coats of color. Who knows how long this will be the trend in fashion, but I like this look for myself. I also like the dramatic looks that other women are able to wear. I guess how you use make up tends to match your personality. Itâs nice to experiment and look for colors that bring out something in your face, like your eye color, or your lips and cheekbones. Iâve seen young ladies lay on the eye shadow pretty heavy to bring out their eye color, but there are much more attractive ways to do this. If you arenât sure what will work best on your complexion or with the colors of your eyes and hair etc., choose a cosmetic counter at the mall and ask the representative to help you out. Itâs a free make over and if you donât like it you havenât spent any money.
