Chapter Seven

L

iam made his way above stairs and nodded to Kenneth when he reached his door. He knocked on the door

"Lass, it's me. Open the door, please. "

He barely finished speaking before the door flung open and a soft blur hurtled towards him. He caught Kyla as she pressed her mouth to his. Her kiss was desperate and seeking. Liam held her as he stepped into the chamber and kicked the door shut. Kyla did not ease off in her kiss. She slid her tongue along his lips and plunged it into his mouth the moment Liam opened enough for it to slide in. As they explored one another's mouths, Kyla's arms searched every part of Liam's body she could reach. Unable to see clearly, she grappled with the brooch on his shoulder.

"Down," she panted.

Liam set her down and began to pull away. Kyla's hand shot up and yanked on his leine to keep him kissing her. She fiddled first with his sporran to drop his brooch into it, and then with the belt that kept his plaid in place. She growled when she could not release the prong. Liam's hands covered hers until it sprung loose. As the belt gave way, Kyla felt cool air waft against her sides and then her breasts. She caught Liam's plaid as it began to fall. She flung it behind her assuming it would land on the nearby chair. She pulled her arms loose of her own sleeves as he pulled her kirtle down past her hips. She yanked up on his leine as high as she could reach. He pulled it over his head and let it drop to the floor next to his sporran and belt. He grasped the front of her chemise and tore it open. That too landed on the floor. He yanked off his boots as she rolled down her stockings and slipped off her slippers. Kyla moaned, and Liam growled as their bare bodies finally came into full contact with one another.

Liam scooped Kyla into his arms and walked to the bed, their kiss unbroken. He lowered her to the bed, but instead of climbing over her, he laid on his side next to her. When she reached for him, he caught her hand and kissed her palm. Then he feathered his fingers over her bruised chest.

"I willna, I canna, do this unless ye are ma wife. I willna take advantage of ye."

Kyla's brow furrowed.

"Are ye worried ye might get me with child before we are wed? I'm sure a few days or even a couple of weeks would go unnoticed."

"That isnae it."

"Are ye worried if ye discover I amnae a maiden before we are wed, ye'll have to set me aside?"

"Nay! I will never set ye aside. I will never consider that. It hasnae aught to do with that. I believe ye when ye said he didna do that. And I kenned already ye are a maiden, nae that that would stop me from wedding ye."

When Kyla looked confused, Liam explained, "We maynae have coupled yet, but I have felt yer maidenhead.
