Using your profile and personal signature to drive traffic

If a discussion board doesn’t allow members to specifically talk about your business, you may wonder how users will be able to find your website. There are two primary ways of accomplishing this. One is by providing your website link in your personal profile, and the other is by linking to your website in your signature.

When you register on a discussion board, you will have the opportunity to build a personal profile. This may include a photograph or image, your name, your location, your blog and website addresses, and other information you choose to provide.

As you build relationships on discussion boards, other members who read your posts will visit your profile to learn more about you. From there, they can click the links to visit your website, blog, or other promotional pages.

You will also have the opportunity to write a custom signature, which will appear beneath each of your discussion board posts. Most discussion boards allow website links in signatures, so you can include your website address here so that people reading your posts can immediately visit your site or blog.

When writing your signature, make sure to review the site’s terms of use to find out how many links you can include — some discussion boards limit you to two or three links. If you have more than three blogs or websites, provide links to your most effective ones and make sure that these sites also link to all your others.

Now that you have learned how to use social marketing to further expand your online reach, let’s move on to another way you can promote and sell your works — via eBay, ArtFire, Amazon, and Spreesy.
