Unlike regular squats, bethaks push your knees far out in front of your toes, so if you’ve got knee issues, start with just a few, or skip them completely. If you’re going for childhood Gama, though, work your way up to 500.

EXERCISE 2: Dandas, aka “Hindu Push-Ups”

1. Begin in the classic push-up position but bring your feet forward and raise your hips so that your body forms a “V” shape.

2. Keep your hips up as you bend your elbows to drop your chin toward the floor.

3. As your chin approaches the floor, swoop your hips under so they almost touch the floor, swinging your chest up as you raise your head and straighten your arms.

4. Reverse the move to return to start. If you’re hoping for Gama levels of intensity, work your way up to 500.
