CHAPTER SIX

Thursday had arrived and the girls had to go and see Penny again.

She was waiting for them as planned at 2pm sharp.

“Come in girls and sit down,” she said. “Now let’s hear all about what happened with the Ouija board.”

Polly went into all the details of the story and what had happened at Sefton Manor Hall and what had been happening since.

“You told me last week that I don’t have a ghost in my flat,” Sadie said. “How can you say that when the others have seen it as well? Mrs Sutton saw it too.”

“Mrs Sutton saw it?” Penny asked.

“Well, she didn’t actually see it,” replied Sadie. “But it threw my Buddha statue at her because she didn’t believe there was a ghost.”

“So she didn’t actually see the ghost?” asked Penny.

“No,” replied Sadie. “So how can you explain why she was attacked?”

“Look girls,” Penny said. “You were all involved with the Ouija board and once you start messing around with things like that, they can open portals. All types of energy can come through that portal, especially evil energy.”

“It wasn’t an evil energy,” Polly said. “We asked who it was and it said it was Alicia.”

“What you contacted,” Penny continued. “Was a dark force that made you believe it was Alicia. Alicia wasn’t a bad person. The evil is making you think that it’s Alicia seeking revenge.”

She went on to explain.

“You have made two grave mistakes. The first one is dabbling with the occult by using a Ouija board, and the second is that you used it at Sefton Manor. Everybody knows its reputation. It’s a place of evil. I cannot for the life of me understand why they keep the place open. It should be demolished. You have all set free an evil force which is now tormenting you.”

“Nothing’s happened to me,” said Annie. “Neither has anything happened to Clara nor Polly. Daisy had the dreams, but Sadie is the one that’s being bothered by the ghost.”

“And why should Mr and Mrs Naylor have things happen in their flat?” Sadie asked.

“Give me your left hand,” Penny said to Sadie.

She closed her eyes briefly.

“Sadie,” she said. “It's said that some energies, good or evil, attach themselves to objects. Also, some people act like antennas and attract bad energy. You are the one who’s attracting the bad energy, or else something evil is connected with the Ouija board. The evil energy is controlling you, as and when it’s convenient.

She looked at each of them carefully.

“Where did you get the board from?” she asked.

“I made it,” replied Sadie.

“Where is it now?” asked Penny.

“At home,” she replied.

“How did you make it?” Penny asked.

“From a log,” she replied.

“And where did you get the log from?” Penny asked.

“On that piece of land at the back of the churchyard,” she replied. “Where that witch is supposed to be buried.”

“So, you took a log from the place where a witch is buried, made a Ouija board, then went to the haunted tower to use it,” Penny said.
