By the time Lynda and I put the finishing touches on the vision board, it is dark outside. We spend several minutes cleaning up the supplies. When we’re done, I give her a high five. “Good job today, Lynda. I’m so proud of you” I say sincerely.

“Thanks,” she says, chuckling a little. “With all the crafting we did, I feel like I reconnected with my inner child.”

I laugh out loud. “Yeah, it does kind of feel that way, but I promise having a visual picture of how you want the journey to go is really going to help so much as you move forward.”

“Well, I think I’m going to go to sleep. I’m very tired and I have to get up early for work.”

“I think I’m going to head to my room as well. I’ll see you early in the morning for our next workout session.”

She nods her head and walks away.

“Don’t work from your bed tonight, if you can help it. Rest is how our body heals itself.”

She gives me a wave, without turning around.

It’s challenging to have only one client, but also very rewarding. When Lynda finds success, I feel like I am successful right along with her.

When I head toward my room, I take out my phone and turn on my flashlight. There is no way I’m going down this hallway in the dark. I first shine the flashlight down the hallway, checking all the corners to make sure there’s no one there. I don’t see anyone, so I walk down the hall. As I pass the door on the right-hand side, I hear that scratching noise again. I’m too scared to open the door to see what might be inside, but I put my ear on the door this time and listen. Scratch-scratch, scratch, scratch, scratch-scratch-scratch. There’s no real rhythm to it. I don’t know what is in that room making those kinds of noises, but it’s scaring the hell out of me. I pick up my pace and hurry toward my room, not wanting to stay in the hall a moment longer.

I open the door to my room and quickly turn on the light. I shut the door behind me and lock it immediately. Behind the locked door, my fear slowly dissipates. Why do I let that hallway affect me so much? I’m sure the noises I’m hearing are really nothing. I’m grateful I’m the only one with the key to this room. This has really become my safe space, and it’s nice to know that no one else can come in here, not even Lynda.

I sit on the bed and swipe on my phone looking at the pictures I took today of our vision board session. I decide to get out my laptop and post them on my social media account. I log in and check my messages. The message from that creepy guy I blocked the other day is still sitting in my inbox. I don’t know why I didn’t delete it, but I read it again and am still unnerved by the things he said.
