Babaloo suddenly woke up!

He remembered running toward the edge of a high cliff while in the presence of Abadon. He recalled that he was trapped in a dream, from which he could not escape; yet, here he was. He had indeed broken free of the dream, and now he was awake. A great delight welled in Babaloo's heart, for his escape meant that he would be able to do something to thwart Abadon's plan to destroy the Free Trading Guild's metropolises which, in turn, would throw the whole world towards its doom.

In complete wakefulness, Babaloo looked around the darkened chamber. He observed that he was in his own bedroom. Next, he saw his wife. She was sound asleep, completely oblivious to what had been going on. He also saw … Oh no!

There, toward the ceiling of his room, by the curtained window, was the pale rider of war whose name was Death. The very same ethereal being which had ushered in Babaloo's advent to the make shift throne of Abadon. Abadon had probably sent Death back to reclaim him. But, at least he had escaped.

“You are wrong,” at last declared the horsed-female specter.

Babaloo had heard such words before. What was death talking about? He had escaped and had gotten free from the clutches of Abadon. Or had he? What did the ghost rider mean by his words?

“What are you saying?” stated Babaloo, clasping the blankets a bit tighter around his chest. He had sat up in bed, to get a better grasp of the situation. He took off the stocking cap upon his head which left his unkempt hair exposed. Things were feeling strangely familiar.

“You have everything all wrong,” continued the ghost rider, “and you have been deceived.”

Babaloo's mouth dropped open. Could it be he had not escaped after all?

“Come with me if you wish to be enlightened,” said the horseman. The armor-wearing rider then headed for the door where she had entered Babaloo's room the first time.

However, this time Babaloo did not follow. Instead, he simply stayed in bed and pulled the covers over his head. Then nothing happened for a long, long time. It felt like hours.

At last, Babaloo took off the covers. He saw nothing around him. No dark faced and red eyed phantom rider. No hint or sign of the invading ghostly intruder. Babaloo went back to sleep, breathing a sigh of genuine relief.
