Maple Mint Julep
Cocktail expert and poet, Autumn Giles, who blogs at “Autumn Makes and Does” has kindly shared her recipe for a mint julep. She adds a slight twist to this classic with the addition of pure maple syrup, which I find to be an excellent pairing with this chicken dish. Serves 1
10 fresh mint leaves, plus a sprig for garnish
1 tablespoon maple syrup
2 fluid ounces good-quality bourbon
Crushed ice
Muddle the mint leaves and maple syrup in the bottom of an old-fashioned glass. Fill the glass ¾ full with crushed ice. Pour the bourbon over the ice and stir to combine. Top with additional ice, if desired, and stir. Serve garnished with a sprig of fresh mint.
