Regular Maintenance on the Road

Just like your tank, your RV is going to need some maintenance as well. To a lot of people, this might seem like an overwhelming task since they are often left wondering what part of the RV they should start working on first.

Here is a list to get you started.

Maintenance #1: Look at the Seams and Seals of the RV

Use your ladder (or some other way) to inspect the roof of your RV. Check for any leakages that could let rainwater into the interior of the vehicle. Check the skylights, vents, edges, and air conditioning unit. If you notice any leaks, you can make use of any number of sealants available in the market. However, try to choose a sealant that works well with the material your RV is made of. Think about getting the gaps or holes fixed sometime in the near future to provide a more long-term solution to the problem.

Maintenance #2: Check Your Tire Pressure and Wheel Nuts

Your RV’s tires are going to suffer quite a bit of abuse (not to mention with the weight of the RV on them). Make sure you are checking the air pressure in your wheels to maintain safety on the road. Look at the lug nuts to see if any of them have come loose, even just a little, and make sure the tires are not overinflated. This could cause them to explode, leading to some serious accidents on the road. The seasons affect the tire pressure, as well. For example, if you are planning to spend time in a particular location during winter, make sure you check your tires before heading out because tire pressure can drop significantly during this time of year.

Maintenance #3: Check the Batteries

Your aim with the batteries is to keep them fully charged, but people don’t always pay attention to that as it means making frequent trips to the garage. However, what you can do is make sure the batteries are in good condition before your long trips.

Maintenance #4: Maintain Your RV’s Tanks
