When they met up with the other group for lunch, Molly told Penelope what Cork had said. “What does that mean?” Pen asked. “His senses are ‘more refined’?”

“I have no idea.” Molly shrugged. “I just know that he’s really good at keeping an eye on Finn. I’m so used to being the one who always catches him making mischief. It’s really cool that Uncle Cork is helping to keep him out of trouble today. I honestly thought it would be awful having our brother here, but with Uncle Cork around, I’m not really noticing Finn much at all.”

“I’ve been able to avoid Nolan most of the day, too,” said Pen. “Norah and I spent most of the morning chatting so we wouldn’t get freaked out by the costumes and props. So far, so good.”

The girls joined some of their other classmates to eat, and the groups compared notes from the morning. Everyone was excited to visit the Hall of Freaks after lunch, since both Tom and Christine had been talking it up all day. None of them knew what it was, but it sounded awesome.

Penelope, who sometimes got a nervous stomach, hadn’t sniffed any of the scents at the Wall of Smells. When Molly and their other friends told her what she’d missed, Penelope lost her appetite for lunch. After a lot of discussion, no one was any more certain about what any of the yucky things were inside the sensory boxes, but everyone agreed that they didn’t want to think about it while they were eating.
