WILLIAM HENRY PRETTYMAN, born October 28,

1845, died May 20, 1919, married November 12,

1876 to Amanda Idlotte Lingo, born June 24,

1859, died February 2, 1937, the daughter of Cornelius and Eliza Ann (Walls) Lingo. WILLIAM H. built the modern part of the farmhouse in which he raised his family, in 1890 and used the old house, which was a part of the original Robert Prettyman home, for the kitchen wing, which is still in use in Sussex County, Delaware. WILLIAM HENRY and AMANDA I. LINGO PRETTYMAN had ten children: David Herbert, Anna Mary, Emma Catherine, William Walter, Effie Cornelia, Clara Waples, Mary Belle, Albert Henry, Amanda and Carl Brereton Prettyman.

DAVID HERBERT PRETTYMAN, born August 25,

1877, died February 20, 1942, married March 29,

1904 to Cassie Virginia Messick, born November

27, 1878, died December 18, 1960, daughter of John T. and Julia (West) Messick. David Herbert and Cassie had two children, Harold Messick and Cassie Virginia Prettyman .

Harold Messick Prettyman

HAROLD MESSICK PRETTYMAN, born May 10, 1907, married May 29, 1931 in New York City to Evelyn Emma Kloeblen, born December 5, 1904, the daughter of James Palmer and Ella Bertha Kloeblen. HAROLD M. was affiliated with the New Jersey State Hospital at Greystone Park, N.J., in June 1929, and served as statistician in medical records until 1942 when he was promoted to Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and Secretary of the Board of Managers. In addition to duties associated with the Superintendent's office, he serves as chairman of the safety committee, chairman of the suggestion committee, chairman of communications in the hospital Civil Defense and Disaster Plan and handles Public Relations. He is Past Master of Morristown Lodge #188, F. & A. M.; he holds membership in the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Trenton; the Square Club of Morristown; Past President of the Joint Civic Council of Parsippany-Troy Hills; and a director and vice-president of the Occupational Training Center for the Handicapped in

Morristown; he has served as co-chairman of the Community Chest, worked with Red Cross and served the election board. He also has been active in Boy Scouts and served as Chairman of a group to organize a troop in Morris Plains. HAROLD M. and EVELYN PRETTYMAN have three sons: Harold Jr., Palmer and Mahlon. Harold Messick Prettyman, Jr., born February 29, 1932, married August 8, 1953 in Chester, Pa., Olive Eunice Smith born March 14, 1933, the daughter of Theodore Clegg and Eunice Olive (Shaw) Smith. Harold and Olive have five children: Martha Sue, born March 17, 1954, Damon Dale, born March 10, 1955, Larry James, born January 1, 1959, Roald Kent born February 12, 1960 and Diane Deborah born November 17, 1962. Harold M. Prettyman, Jr. is a chemical engineer with DuPont and now residing in Ireland. Palmer Eggert Prettyman, born March 21, 1935, married August 11, 1957 in Hackensack, N.J., Marjorie Jane Mihalik, born February 11, 1935, daughter of Rudolp Charles and Marjorie Jane (Seville) Mihalik.
