Braden awoke, Harper’s nestled against him, her warmth like a blanket of contentment. He could not recall ever being awash with such deep satisfaction after having made love to a woman. Not even Freya.

Already, he had shared more of himself with Harper than he had anyone else. He was a private person and rarely opened up, but Harper had a way of easing bits and pieces out of him. He didn’t want to look too far into the future—nor did he want to push her too hard or too fast. He would need to let her set the pace for whatever blossomed between them.

But his gut told him he was in it for the long haul.

He had only felt that way about wine. Usually, he was extremely deliberate, taking his time with trying anything new. The grapes, however, had called to him from an early age. Braden had known his destiny was entwined with them when he was still a small boy. The same felt true now with Harper. Innately, he understood this woman would be his future.

He wanted to slip from the bed to make breakfast for her, thinking how she had said he’d been the caretaker for his two brothers and shown them love through his cooking. He supposed it was the same with Harper, but he was reluctant to leave her now.

She stirred and pressed a kiss to his bare chest. “Good morning,” she said, looking up at him with an incredibly sexy smile.

He brushed his lips against her brow. “Good morning, yourself. Want me to make breakfast for us? I’m starved.”

Her fingers caressed his cheek. “I’m starved, too. For you.”

Breakfast could wait.

Once more, Braden made love to this woman, knowing in his bones how right it was between them. They both climaxed together, and neither of them was quiet about it. He collapsed atop her, kissing her hungrily, wondering if he would ever be able to get enough of her.

Breaking the kiss, he said, “Now, I’ll go and make us something to eat. Any requests?”

She stretched lazily against him. “Anything except yogurt and berries. That’s my go-to every morning. I’d like something different for a change.” She grinned. “Maybe something that involves real cooking.”

He kissed her hard. “You got it.”

Rolling out of bed, Braden tossed on the boxer-briefs lying crumpled on the floor and went to the kitchen.

By the time Harper arrived, he had coffee brewed and on the table, along with French toast and sausage links.

Her eyes widened. “This smells heavenly. What a feast!” she proclaimed, sitting and glancing at her coffee. “You doctored it for me?” she asked, sounding pleased.

“I pay attention to little things. Especially if they concern you.”

He joined her at the table, and they ate a leisurely breakfast, not rushing since they had nowhere to be.

“What would you like to do today?” he asked. “When does Ivy get home?”

“I’m not sure. She said she’d text me when she left Houston. I do know she had brunch plans with some friends. She’ll probably leave after that.
