Dillon raced the red and blue taxi across town with the Major riding shotgun, while the rest of the group sat in the back. The taxi, while looking normal, was anything but. It was custom built and armored to the hilt, as well as having iron shutters that could be quickly pulled into place to shield the windows. A specially designed periscope that whipped into place allowed Dillon to still view the road. The frame had been beefed up to help keep the car hugging the road, while a powerful v-12 pumped two hundred and forty horses to the rear. The tires were filled with a special compound that would allow them to take several bullets without flattening or blowing out.

The Taxi had been built to Lacy’s specs by Fletcher, the auto Magnate, who was known simply as Mr. Wednesday in the Emergency Council against Crime. The Council, which consisted of six high-powered and very wealthy individuals, were in part responsible for Al Capone being put away. They had made it their passion in life to stop crime at any cost. Thus Lacy had been contacted, and missing the adventure and fighting of the war, jumped right into the job. Lacy’s job was simple, eliminate the upper-echelon criminals. He had come close, and probably would have succeeded, if not for the Ace’s daughter, Zita. The young woman had managed to do something no other before her had been able to accomplish. She had grabbed the Major’s heart and, after trying several times to get her to leave her father’s side, he had failed, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth. He promised himself, after the last battle, that he was through with Zita, but he wondered if his resolve would hold up. It was new territory for him. He had spent most of his life having little use for women. The battles and adventures he spent his life involved in, that was the fuel that fed his fire. That was the frustrating part. What was it about Zita that seemed to pluck his heartstrings, like a finely tuned violin?

Dillon made the trip to the bank in stellar time, and whipped the taxi to the curb, parking perfectly behind one of the squad cars already there. The group exited and made their way to the bank entrance. They were greeted by a few uniformed officers tasked with keeping anyone from entering the crime scene. Lacy pulled the special letter that
