A Quick Mention of Slip-Ups

You’re bound to have a few slip-ups as you live the MM lifestyle. If you come back from vacation, after the holidays, a harried time in your life, illness, high stress, a flare-up of an autoimmune disease, time on steroids, or pain, remember to reset your metabolism with two weeks of Step One followed by two weeks of Step Two before returning to Step Three.

Step Three: Frequently Asked Questions

Steps One and Two are weight- and fat-loss Steps. What does Step Three achieve?

When you have reached your own personal desired weight and size, feel great, like the way you look, and take as little medication as possible, Step Three will maintain this for a lifetime. It allows an expanded range of carb types and gives you the flexibility to place carb servings where you want as long as you have a minimum of one serving (and a max of four servings) at meals and necessary snacks.

Even if I am allowed a maximum of ten carb servings per day, should I stick closer to eight servings a day?

Any carbohydrate amount within your maintenance range is perfectly fine. You needn’t deprive yourself by staying to one carb serving per meal when you desire two or three. Just be sure you don’t regularly exceed your maximum carb servings per day.

My jeans are getting snug in the waist. What’s the quickest way to return to my comfortable, healthy size?

Weight gain for people with Metabolism B is not usually a function of excess calories but rather of excess insulin and inadequate exercise. Create a two-day food diary and identify what might be causing the fat gain. Once you have found the culprit, you will need to detox, with two weeks on Step One to rest your metabolism followed by two weeks on Step Two to reprogram it.

Now that I’m on the maintenance portion of my plan for life, should I continue taking supplements and drinking green tea?

I wish I could tell you that you can get all of your needed vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants from the foods you eat. It is my opinion that our food supply is overprocessed and tinkered with chemically and hormonally. It’s more than probable that we can easily miss out on some of the vitamins and minerals we need. I think of MM’s supplements and recommendation for green tea as insurance that your body gets what it needs.

Can I ever ease back into a “normal” lifestyle, or will I be forever timing my meals, counting carbs, and reading food labels?

The Metabolism Miracle is the “normal” way of life for anyone with Metabolism B. If you eat haphazardly, your pancreas will overreact with excess insulin, you will regain weight, and you will begin to experience all the symptoms that fluctuating blood sugar once caused: fatigue, depression, anxiety, restless sleep, midline fat, blurry vision, irritability, and carb cravings. In time you could develop type 2 diabetes and require daily medications for many weight-related medical conditions.

Don’t think of the Metabolism
