Three days before her death

The gaslighting wasn’t going to work anymore. She couldn’t believe anything that came out of his mouth. She hadn’t been able to in a long time, but now things had changed.

Something was very wrong, and she had to find out what it was, or things were going to get worse.

Brielle knew there was more to Owen’s car crash than anyone was letting on. They kept calling it an accident, but she wouldn’t use that word. Her instinct, her intuition, told her that there was more. Something happened that night, and no one would acknowledge it. Especially Alexander.

She had been gathering everything she possibly could for weeks now, tucking it away and keeping it safe so that she would be prepared when it was finally time to break away from him for good. But it was only in the last couple of days that the worst had finally started to settle into her mind. She knew that what she had found wasn’t enough yet. That hole in the tire the night of his crash didn’t get there just by tumbling off the side of the road. Someone damaged that tire so that he would lose control of the car. It couldn’t have been Alexander. He could prove where he was that night, and it wasn’t anywhere near the dark road where Owen nearly died. But that didn’t matter. She still knew in the depths of her soul that Alexander was planning something horrible. She had to get away from him, to get her children away from him. She needed to make sure she had everything on him she possibly could so that they would be safe when they left.

Today was her chance to search for more. Alexander was away on another one of his business trips. She didn’t know where he was or what he was doing. She had long since stopped caring about that. It wasn’t like he told her the truth anyway when he told her what his trips were for. Not that they were never for business. She knew her father sometimes sent him on trips and that he did have
