The next morning Sasha sat down at her desk and smiled. Her thoughts had been on Noelle all morning. She couldnât get this woman out of her head and didn't want to. Glancing down at her calendar to see what she had scheduled for the day made the smile fall from her face.
âDang School Board meeting,â she muttered. She got her phone and texted Noelle.
You had me in such a haze of sexual bliss yesterday I didnât remember that I have to cover the School Board Meeting tonight for the paper. I could come by before the meeting?
She waited and immediately saw the three little dots appear telling her Noelle was typing.
Are you suggesting a quickie?
Sasha giggled and immediately began her response.
I donât see âthatâ being something we ever do quickly. I like seeing you in your clothes as well as out of them. Howeverâ¦
She sent the message and giggled again. This was fun. She couldnât remember the last time sheâd flirted via text messages. Her eyes didnât leave the screen as she anxiously awaited Noelleâs reply.
âGood morning,â Rita said, plopping down in the chair across from her desk. âWho is putting that smile on your face? Please tell me itâs Noelle.â
Sasha looked up at her good-intentioned nosy friend and decided she couldnât hide Noelle from Rita even if she tried. Before Sasha could say anything her phone pinged with Noelleâs reply.
Iâll be waiting whenever you get here. With or without clothes. Youâll just have to âcomeâ and see.
Sasha laughed and began typing her response. âJust a moment, Rita.â
Canât wait.
She put her phone down and exhaled. She looked across at Rita and narrowed her eyes. âNoelle is indeed responsible for this smile. We had a lovely weekend.â
Ritaâs eyes widened. âWeekend?â
âWe had dinner Saturday and then I had lunch with her family and she gave me a tour of her house yesterday,â she explained.
âIsnât that the cutest little house,â said Rita.
âIt is.â
Rita had such a pleased look on her face. âWhen are you seeing her again?â
If she only knew how much of Noelle Iâve seen, she thought, trying to keep the evil grin off her face. âThis evening.â
Rita nodded and gave her an appraising look, then began to smile. âI could cover the School Board Meeting. There is nothing of much interest on the agenda.â
âYouâd do that for me?â
Rita leaned forward and looked at Sasha sincerely. âIâll do whatever I can to help you give Noelle a reason to come home.â
Sasha furrowed her brow. âWhy do you think I could get her to stay?â
Rita shook her head. âSometimes love is blind.â
âWhat?â Sasha said, shocked.
âYou and Noelle are perfect for one another. You have seen the same horrors, want to improve peopleâs lives, and you need each other.â
âNeed each other?â
âYes,â Rita said with a kind smile. âYou both are searching for the same thing. And I think you probably already know youâve found her.â
Sasha couldnât deny that after Noelle had left last night, sheâd thought about how she suddenly found Noelle Winters in her heart.
