Her mother was puzzled. "I'm not sure. Oh, and your breath—it smells funny."

Her mother was stunned. "You haven't said her name in two years. Why did you bring her up now?"

Keri ignored the question. "Was the dream about her?"

"Yes." Her mother took her hand. "Can I talk about it?"

"Sure."

Her mother shook her head. "What's happened to you? Usually when I say her name you run from the room."

"I can talk about her now, it's fine. I'm sorry I couldn't before. I'm sorry I forced you to suffer alone, after Dad left." Keri squeezed her hand. "Tell me about your dream."
