But the mail carrier doesn’t bother anyone in the bar, unlike the hotel’s resident spirit, Florence Montague. This ghost inhabits room 320 and is known to yank the covers off sleeping guests, especially young men. And sometimes she pinches them on their arms, too. Her message is clear: “Get out of my room, young man!” So remember, room 320 belongs to Florence. Sleep there (or try to) if you dare.

THE HOTEL TEATRO

(11100 Fourteenth Street, Denver)

This location was originally the Denver Tramway Building, opened in 1911. It has had several owners, including the University of Colorado.

The Hotel Teatro opened there in 1997, along with its restaurant, the Nickel. If you stand in the lobby waiting for a table, there’s a good chance you will experience some paranormal activity, including ghost sightings and random lights that appear out of nowhere.

Be on the lookout for “Tool Man,” a former mechanic who can be spotted walking down the hallway still carrying his tools. You might think he’s real until he vanishes into thin air. Staff members think he may have died at work and is now trapped at the hotel.

Strange red lights sometimes shine from under an elevator door, as well as from under a guest room door. The red light is accompanied by whispering voices. Both the light and the voices quickly disappear when anyone tries to track down their source. There were apartments on the top floors in the 1940s, and one woman who owned a unit on the eighth floor refused to leave when the owners told her they were selling the building. She barricaded herself inside her apartment, and not long after, her family discovered her dead body in the building’s basement. The family sold her apartment, but some people believe she is still there, still refusing to leave.

THE MAYAN THEATRE

(110 Broadway, Denver)

This gorgeous theater opened in 1930, but by the 1960s, it was looking old and run down. It was nearly demolished in 1985, but new owners reopened it in 1986 with three movie screens and a full restaurant.
