CHAPTER NINE

ELSA LAY WITH her head on Santi’s chest, feeling the rhythmic beats of his heart against her ear. The soft hair on his chest tickled her cheek. There was a delicious lethargy in her limbs and a strange tingling sensation in her pelvis.

She didn’t want to fall asleep. Didn’t want to lose the wonder. Didn’t want to wake and find the most magical night of her life had been a dream.

She’d lain there so long her arm was starting to seize up. Carefully, she disentangled herself and propped herself on an elbow. She could see the outline of his handsome face through the darkness and placed a gentle kiss to his mouth.

His head moved and he mumbled something. His hand groped for hers. She laced her fingers through his and pressed it against her heart. Could he hear its beats in his sleep?

Was he dreaming? Was she dreaming?

Only when her arm started to hurt again did she lie down and, wrapped snugly in his sleeping arms, finally close her eyes.
