CHAPTER 32

Gabriella

Life felt almost normal after the night of the party. Levi did his Mafia stuff, while Elijah stood in as his second-in-command. The detective didn't come back around, and Sin and I—we got to know each other better.

Our days are full of conversation and laughter, binge watching shows neither one of us pay much attention to, and of course our nights are spent in each other's arms.

If bliss had a feeling, it would be this. The feeling of belonging and family. Sure, I've been in this house for years, but I always felt like I was a prisoner. Some exotic bird, kept in their cage.

Now, it is more. Nothing I can put a finger on. Most everything has stayed the same, including pressing Levi's buttons. In fact, with the rest of the house silent, that's my current goal. I practically skip down the hall to his study, knowing he's been locked inside those four walls all day. He is probably tense and needs some help working that out.

Lucky me.

I push open the door without knocking, and he looks up from his phone call. His eyes flash when he catches sight of me. And his nose flares as soon as he inhales my perfume.

"I expect results by Friday, Blake. Make sure your crew knows. The drop is coming in at three a.m., and you need to be ready. We don't have police backing; I'm still working on the new chief."

I trail my fingers along the surface of his desk as I circle it, and he watches me like a lion ready to pounce. Then I twist his chair to face me as I sink to my knees on the plush rug he has beneath his desk. His golden eyes darken as I run my fingers up his thigh.

"No, he hasn't been very forthcoming," he says into the phone. Blake must respond because Levi scoffs before laughing. "Absolutely not. Are you questioning me?"

I rub my palm over the swell of his dick as it hardens against his leg, and he captures my hand in his, stilling my touch. With a pout, I curl my fingers into his slacks and around him, squeezing his length instead. He releases a half-growl, half-groan as his eyes drop shut.

"Blake, if you drop the ball, heads will roll," he growls. Then he encourages me to run my hand over him, slightly arching into my palm. "I'll be in touch."

He drops the phone to his desk and pins me with a heated look. "What are you doing, princess?"

I lick my lips and lift my eyes to his. "What does it look like, Alpha?"

His chest rumbles with another growl, and I smile. He likes it when I call him alpha. With the way he hardened more beneath my touch, I think he more than likes it. His emotions arch like lighting through the bond, and it makes fire ignite inside my veins.

"It looks like you think you're going to suck my cock."

I hum, my fingers going to his belt.
