Chapter 20

“Why is there some gate right here?” Luna asked Storm.

“I honestly have no clue,” Storm admitted. “A gate entering a tiny mountain. Just like in my dream.”

Three small girls, about nine years old, came out of the gate, all of them scrambling.

“WOLVES!” the tiny one with pale eyes screamed. The other two screamed at her. ‘Tiny little children.’ Storm thought.

As they proceeded to run into the mountain, another small girl ran out of the mountain. “OPAL!” Snowfluff snarled. The girl called Opal froze in her tracks. She was trembling so hard, Storm thought she would literally fall over. She thought, ‘isn’t she familiar?’

“Daffodil,” Opal whispered.

A small dove swooped out of the mountain in one majestic blink.

“Do not harm her,” the dove thought-said.

“But she was the reason for all the terrible things that happened to me and all my family members!” Snowfluff cried and snarled, “she’s the reason there are no more golden wolves!”

“I’ll never forgive her!” Flurry joined in.

‘Should I join their complaining?’ Storm thought. ‘I’ll just stay out of this one. What did Opal do?’

“But you must, for she will train you-” The dove’s voice was cut off by Opal shrieking something out.

“Siren! “You’re all right!” Siren ran over to Opal with one swift hug, “Siren Sala De.”

Her wonderful smile turned into a cold glare at Daffodil. “Why didn’t I remember her?” she snarled.

“I put an illusion on you.” The dove said sadly, “your emotions would distract you from helping them with the prophecy.”

“I can’t forgive her!” Snowfluff continued, “she took everything from me!”

“WELL, WHAT DID SHE DO!” Siren shrieked.

This was followed by cold silence.

“How did you hear the wolf?” Opal asked Siren sternly, then Siren hesitated, and said, “I sort of heard it, as if it is in our own language.”

“You heard it? You are crazy,” the blonde girl scoffed.

“I heard it,” Siren said, with a bit more confidence in her smooth voice.

“I believe you,” the young girl with pigtails confirmed. Siren smiled. “I knew you would,” she said with a voice like honey.

“Very well,” Daffodil said, “then Siren Sala De is ready for the prophecy,”

“What prophecy?” Siren asked innocently.

“The one your father wants to stop,” Luna snarled.

“What prophecy?” Storm asked. ‘I can’t believe I didn’t know this.’

“Oh, this cool prophecy about these crystals and-” Pigtails stopped mid-sentence.

“How did I know that?” She asked the dove.

“You are ready for the prophecy,” the dove said, “Please, it is nightfall. The Swift Spirits will be coming out. They are native to this mountain range and bring hopelessness and fathomless emptiness to within a mile of where we are,” She explained.

“Well, please just let me not have to listen to you,” Snowfluff begged.

“Oh well,” the dove sighed. Siren’s eyes turned a fluorescent green.

“The reunion has come.

A single one has come.

Trust the dove.

The one who betrays you is the one you love.”

The look on Snowfluff’s face was so contorted with terror that Storm wanted to climb the windiest most-scary mountain peak and jump from it, and then attempt to land the hazardous jump.
