The evaluating nurse thought Sara might be having a heart attack and rushed her into the emergency room. Even though Sara was only in her twenties, between her pulse being elevated to twice the normal rate and the chest pains she was feeling, the nurse did not want to take any chances.

“Do you want me to call Dr. O’Connor?” Alex asked.

“No! He can never hear about this!”

“Okay, okay!”

Four hours and many electrocardiograms later, Sara was discharged, with a diagnosis of a panic attack.

“I am so embarrassed. I just spent hours in the ER for a damn panic attack.”

“Don’t be embarrassed. I’m just glad you are okay. If that asshole had given you a heart attack, I would have killed him myself. In fact, I may kill him anyway!”

“Don’t tell Amber about this either.”

“It’ll be our little secret. C’mon. Let’s go home.” Alex placed his hand on the small of her back to offer support, then raised his other arm in the air to hail a taxi.
