the yogi, with the moon’s light glowing,

returns to earth to be reborn.

‘There are two paths, the light and dark,

both thought to be perpetual;

by one he goes not to return,

but by the other he returns.

‘Knowing these two paths, Arjuna,

the yogi is not deluded.

Therefore, O Son of Pritha, be

always disciplined by yoga!

‘The yogi, having known all this, surpasses

merit attained by study of the Vedas,

by gifts and sacrifices, self-denial—

the yogi goes to the primal, highest place.’”
