PAULA RIVERA DONOSO was born in Viña del Mar, Chile and studied Hispanic Literature at the Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and Children’s Literature ad the Universidad Católica de Chile. As a writer, she is interested in fantasy as an aesthetic mode. She has worked as a literary critic and an editor for many Chilean fantastic publications. She has published one novel, La niña que salió en busca del mar (2013), the haiku pamphlet Ventanas (2010) and stories in several anthologies, including Cuentos chileños de fantasia: Antología 2011-2012 (2013). She blogs at tierradefay.blogspot.com. ‘Music Box’ is a story, rather like Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, about a man discovering that there is more to life than grey conformity.
