CONCLUSION

Christ’s priesthood on the earth was a glorious reality. He was anointed, he healed, he interceded, he blessed, and he cleansed his people by blood. However, we should also think of his priestly work as continuing and even entering a better era when he ascended into heaven. The ascension marks an important turn and shift in Christ’s priestly work. To flatten or compress Christ’s priestly work goes against the grain of scriptural progression.

After Jesus’ ascent and session, he undertook his role as the heavenly priest who interceded with his glorified body. After Jesus’ ascent, he began to minister in the true tent in heaven. After Jesus’ ascent, he began to serve in the sanctuary by interceding on our behalf and even presenting his blood before the Father, as priests would do in the Old Testament. Finally, only after Jesus’ ascent did he bless his followers on earth like Aaron by pouring out the Holy Spirit.
