View through a doorway

Now, you’ll draw the view through the doorway of a 17th-century sandstone barn that looks out onto a small grass paddock bounded by a wooden fence, a stable block and trees. The scene is viewed in one-point perspective and from below eye level, so the unusual angles of the stable doors add extra interest. You’ll complete each element of the drawing in turn, starting from the background and working towards the foreground.

The pencils used are 3H and HB for the main wood, stone and vegetation textures. The main tones used in the drawing are very dark, dark, medium dark, medium and medium light.
