Chapter Eleven

“And just how are you going to do that?” Eret asked.

“I’m going to listen in on the Senior Councilor’s personal frequency.”

“But our communicator won’t operate using standard frequencies and the Legat main planet is far outside the range of our standard communicator. And connecting with the advanced frequencies being used by the Alliance isn’t possible because they aren’t detectable,” Ellie remarked. “Besides, how do you know the Senior Councilor’s personal frequency?”

“Carley gave it to me.”

“That doesn’t answer how you’re going to be able to listen in from this far away,” Ellie added.

“The communicator on this ship has been replaced by a…newer model,” Epic replied. “This new communicator, unlike the ones currently on your command ships, can connect with any frequency entered into it and it operates on both advanced frequencies and standard frequencies. Enter the frequency you want to listen in on and if it’s used, then the communicator will play what is said.”

“Get out of here!” Tragedy interjected. “And what is the range of this communicator?”

Epic smiled, “I spoke directly with Senior Captain Bigum who is currently in the Vrang Spiral Arm.”

“That’s not possible!” Mark interrupted.

Epic looked around the room, “I ordered you here today to see how this new communicator can benefit us. I’ve entered the Senior Councilor’s Frequency into it and if he uses it, we will hear what he’s saying along with anyone else on the frequency.”

Mike Rice had been sitting back remaining silent during the meeting since he was the newest Attack Group Commander, “And where did you get this new communicator?”

Epic smiled, “Trust the baby of the group to ask a question I won’t answer. That information is classified and not because I don’t trust you, but I don’t want the source to be compromised and put in danger.”

Suddenly the wall monitor activated and a Legat appeared on it. “I’ve just been notified that the Truet Monarch has requested to speak with me. I’ve told my staff to tell him I’ll contact him an hour from now. You need to come to my office immediately.”

The Supreme Fleet Commander appeared on the monitor beside the Legat as he said, “I’m on my way! I’ll be there in less than forty-minutes.”

Epic froze the images on the monitor and said, “For those of you who have never seen him, the first one to appear on the monitor is the Senior Councilor. The second to appear is the Supreme Fleet Commander of all Alliance forces.” Epic looked at the wall chronometer and said, “If you need a break, take it now but be back in less than an hour.”

The room emptied and Eret walked over and sat down beside Rocky, “Do you think Haven will accept me as a resident?”

“They accepted you years ago, Eret. There will always be a safe haven for us here.”

Eret nodded and held out his hand as humans did with each other. Rocky shook it and thought, “I think you have seen that life on Haven is far better than living on our planets.
