But, to the point—

Islam is so much richer than all these blasphemous principles. The Most High said: “This day I have perfected your religion [i.e., way of life] for you” [5:3]. So whoever once doubts the perfection of Islam, renouncing it in favor of one of the [governmental] systems of the infidels, such a one is an infidel, rendering false all the previous [Koranic] verses mentioned. Allah Most High said: “None, save for the infidels, deny Our Revelations” [29:47]. Islam ennobles and is not ennobled; it does not accept mixing with other [ideologies]. The Most High said: “Say, ‘O you infidels! you have your religion and I have mine’” [109:6]—in other words, a complete separation and total disavowal [of their systems]. The Most High said: “Verily, it is We Who have revealed the Book to you in Truth: so serve Allah, offering Him sincere devotion. Is it not to Allah that sincere devotion is due? But those who choose friends and allies besides Allah [say], ‘We worship them only that they may bring us nearer to Allah.’ Truly Allah will judge between them in that which they differ. But Allah guides not such as are false and ungrateful” [39:2–3].

Such, then, is democracy, and the infidelities and blasphemies born of it. And the members of the people’s council, my brother, are the lords [taken] in place of Allah. This is enough to prohibit voting [someone into] a representative, democratic council, as well as prohibit [one] from participating in elections in this council. And whoever participates while fully aware of the truth of democracy is an apostate infidel, an outcast from the Islamic umma.

And if their constitutions stipulate that the state is a democracy while the official religion is Islam,11 this does not change one thing from their infidelity. This is like one who says “I witness that Allah is no god, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and Musailima is the Messenger of Allah.”12 Can anyone once doubt the blasphemy of this?! So anyone who calls for Islam while presenting [a system of] infidelity, such as democracy or socialism, is an apostate infidel. Allah Most High said: “And most of them believe not in Allah except by associating [others as partners] with Him!” [12:106]. Thus whoever claims to be a “democratic-Muslim” or a Muslim who calls for democracy, is like one who says about himself “I am a Jewish Muslim” or “I am a Christian Muslim”—the one worse than the other. He is an apostate infidel.
