Mary Learns the Truth about Her Power

When they flew out of the portal, Julie and the others expected to see Mary’s house, but instead they were flying over the ocean. Julie looked around and noticed a cave in the distance, located under a mountain on the ground below them. She did not know why the portal brought them here. “What is this place? Did something go wrong?” she asked before Breena flew down to land.

“I don’t know,” Breena said with a look of disappointment. “Something must be wrong with my powers.”

Julie felt sympathetic and hoped nothing was wrong. “Maybe we should explore the cavern,” she said, wondering what could have brought them to another cave.

As soon as Breena and the girls landed on the beach, they could smell the salty air and hear the echo of splashing water. The fairy looked at Mary and could tell she was becoming weak.

“We need to get inside so I can figure out a way to heal you!” she said, wrapping Mary’s left arm around her neck as she helped her into the cave.

Mary looked at her arm and realized the blood was streaming down to her fingertips. “How are you going to heal me?” she asked.

Breena wanted to use her powers, but she thought something might be wrong and did not want to risk injuring Mary. So instead she looked around the cave, hoping to find something she could use to help Mary. “I don’t know. Maybe we can find the ingredients for some type of healing elixir,” she suggested.

As Julie walked around the cavern, looking for something to heal Mary, she discovered an assortment of green, red, clear, and dark purple crystals sitting on one of the tables. On closer examination, she saw the crystals were crafted into magical amulets in different Celtic designs. She had read that amulets were used for health, tranquility, balance, love, prosperity, and many other things but couldn’t remember what certain colors meant. “Maybe,” she said, picking up a purple crystal pendant and a green amulet off the table, “one of these amulets could help heal her.”

Breena looked at the amulets in Julie’s hands. “Give me the green amulet,” she told Julie, remembering it was used for healing.

Julie handed her the silver wire wrapped around the green crystal. “Do you think it will work?”

Breena took the amulet from Julie. “Hopefully,” she replied, holding the healing crystal over Mary’s wound and swinging it in a circular motion.

Mary watched as the blood mysteriously disappeared and new skin appeared on her arm, without leaving a scar. “It actually worked!” she said in amazement, beginning to feel her strength return. “Thank you!”

Breena was glad that the healing amulet was able to heal the cut. “Yeah, it’s a good thing,” she said, spotting a thin wooden staff in a corner of the cave. It had a dark blue orb tied with a leather strap on top.

Mary found that the place also contained a bed and a table, which looked like a medieval wooden desk.
