MIRROR TREES AND ENDOGAMY
Mirror trees can be incredibly usefulâif you are not from an endogamous culture. If you suspect youâre from an endogamous culture, you might consider waiting to build one. Because people from endogamous cultures share an unusual amount of DNA, they have more trouble parsing out which DNA came from whom (and, thus, how their family trees line up). One exception: If you have only a small portion of an endogamous cultureâs DNA (say, 25 percent Ashkenazi Jewish) you might have an easier time figuring out how that portion fits into your family tree.
