CHAPTER 11

KAYDEN

PRESENT…

She stares at me with disbelief and I want to kick my own arse for making her ever doubt me. I should have been the person she relied on over the years. She should have been able to come to me and tell me she was being hurt. She should have been able to get help. I fucking hate that I wasn’t there when she needed me the most.

But most of my anger, most of my rage, is aimed at that fuck for what he did to her.

Mike.

I’m going to murder him for laying a hand on her. I’m going to slit his throat from ear to ear and watch the blood leave his body, but not before I visit every hurt he gave my Hope on him. He’s going to pay for every time he made her afraid, for every mark he gave her, including the one she’s currently wearing.

“You’re going to help me?”

The hope in her voice cuts through me. “Yeah, babe. I’m going to help you.”

I wrap my hand around her back, pulling her against me. It feels amazing to have her back in my arms, and like muscle memory, I wrap her tightly against me as I claim her mouth again. Kissing her will never get old. I’ve missed this. I’ve missed her.

I slant my head so I can deepen my lips against hers, holding her as if I’m scared she’ll disappear if I let her go.

I meant what I said.

I’m not walking away again.

She’s mine. She’s always been mine.

I thought she would have a better life without me. I could not have been more wrong.

I push thoughts of her trauma out of my head for the moment. I will deal with retribution for that when I don’t have her soft and pliable in my arms.

Her little moans bring me back from my thoughts. I slip my tongue past the seam of her lips, taking what I want with a desperate hunger I haven’t felt since the last time I was with Hope.

When we finally break apart, she stares up at me. I don’t know what I see in her eyes—mistrust? Uncertainty? But desire too. I wish we were somewhere I could lie her down and take her.

She fists her fingers into my kutte, her grip tight as she drops her head against my chest. She looks so dejected. Fuck, I want to murder Mike for this alone. “Hope,” I say her name softly and she raises her head off me.

“You can’t fight him. He knows people. Judges. Police officers. I’ve paid my solicitor so much and I barely made a dent in the case Mike has against me.”

I don’t think she really understands how powerful the Sons are, the reach my club has. If my chapter can’t help, I can call on any chapter in our club—London, Birmingham, there are many. Between us all there will be someone who specialises in what we need.

I try to calm the anger that is growing inside me for that fucking prick.
