Chapter 14

“How much longer?” Shredder demanded.

“I told you, I don't know. It takes time, days,” Professor Perry answered. It wasn't what Shredder wanted to hear.

Shredder crossed the room to the holding cells and glanced in. “I want them as soon as possible,” he said.

“I told you —” He was ready to give Shredder a piece of his mind. Instead, three of The Foot grabbed the professor, shoving him back into his chair. “Aren't these enough for you?” the professor asked Shredder angrily, pointing to the black-clad men who were guarding him.

“The Foot have already failed against my enemies,” he said, hatred dripping from every word. “I have failed.” He walked back over to the cages. “But the next time will be different,” he pledged. “The next time will be freak against freak!”

There was sudden activity in the cage. One of the animals snarled and snapped at Shredder's shadow. The other growled loudly and began banging angrily at the bars on the cage.

Shredder permitted a smile to cross his face.
