- Chapter Eleven -
Brendan Arrived for Breakfast
The next morning was the start of a new week, and Jayden hoped it would bring more good news. Aaron finished his morning exercise and breakfast then he headed to work with his surrogate Brendan, to see what he could find out at the other school. It was still early, but he wanted to get to the bottom of this hacking and virus problem that brought Scarlet trouble. It could turn out to be a serious issue for the Sanctum as a whole. If Scarlet were too affected, it would disturb the general operations of their lives, and she was also a big help in stopping terrorist activities. Aaronâs simple little spying project on Ernest State College was turning out to be not so simple after all.
This morning he would be working on his own. It was before their classes and before Ernest State College classes had started, but he was on a mission. He wanted to get his friends there to go and investigate the reason for the power at the school being strangely used.
He had never been to Ernest State College this early in the morning, so he wasnât sure where to find his small group of friends, or if they would even be up yet. He was one of the very few students there that had their own sleeping quarters. He didnât know how, but somehow it had been arranged for his surrogate. It made it easier to lock the surrogate in the sleeping quarters for downtime so that no one would see an asleep teenager in strange times of the day.
Sitting on the comfy chair and placing the headgear of the surrogate operations on, he attached all the pieces on at the right places for reading his mind. Thankfully, Niles and Robert had managed to upgrade the surrogate system, like Earnest State Collegeâs surrogates, so that he could operate it with his mind alone and no longer needed to do the silly movements. The surrogate opened its eyes on Aaronâs command, and Aaron found himself immediately looking at the ceiling of Brendanâs room at Ernest State College. He sat up and flipped his surrogate legs over the side of the bed. The surrogate was dressed in the school uniform. It was usually perfect, but he changed into ordinary civvies consisting of blue jeans and a yellow long sleeve shirt, covered by a dark blue hoodie. He didnât want to wreck his school uniform for their little exposition outside the school grounds.
Once dressed, he opened the bedroom door and exited into the corridor. Looking at the clock in the hallway he saw that it was nearly seven oâclock in the morning. Classes started at eight thirty. âSurely they are up by now,â he thought. Just in case, he progressed to Liam and Drydenâs room to check. He knocked loudly on their door. No one answered. The next place he thought that they might be was the dining hall. He couldnât remember ever setting foot in there during eating time.
