"Have you explained organized versus disorganized killers and homology?" Archard asked.
"Huh?"
"I was just getting there," he assured the American.
Marcel cleared his throat, popped a cashew in his mouth, took a sip of his drink, and grimaced. He clamped his eyes shut, puckered his lips, and shook his head. Knowing people might need some extra propping up, Sammy had made the late afternoon cocktail much stronger than normal.
Growing impatient, Mick asked, "What's homology?"
Marcel opened one eye and said, "Agreement between character and action." He paused and opened the other eye before continuing. "An organized murder proves methodical, carefully carried out, and well-planned. The killer leaves few clues. He or she knows right from wrong, yet feels no remorse. A disorganized crime has a messy scene. The perpetrator may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, deranged, or young. By the evidence of the action, we can predict the character of the criminal. Their behavior reflects their personality. But all murders have disorganized elements, and often, these are superfluous to the crime. These are the signature behaviors we must examine, and they reflect the suspect's personality, experiences, even lifestyle. This signature aspect tells us about the murderer's psychological and emotional needs."
