The door to Tyler’s house opened before I could even reach out to grab the handle. As soon as I stepped over the threshold, Tyler’s arms wrapped around me from behind as he nuzzled my neck. “You had to have already been here when we talked, Wifey. Why all the secrecy?” he whispered in my ear.

Spinning around in his arms, I held mine out to the side since there were multiple garment bags in my hands. “You know how we said we were all gonna get together for your birthday tomorrow?”

He looked at me with a skeptical grin. “Yeah.”

“Well, we are actually going to do it tonight. In costumes! Ta-da!” I sang while lifting the bags.

“The four of us are gonna hang out in costumes? This totally sounds like my thing, but I’m surprised it’s something you’d do.” He laughed, leaning in to kiss me lightly. “Still doesn’t explain why you’re being so secretive.”

His hands wandered from my waist down to my ass, and he squeezed hard, pulling me to him. I yelped and jumped back slightly. “Uh-uh, Pup. We gotta get dressed and go.”

“I haven’t seen you for five days, and you want to leave instead of letting me fuck you senseless?” He stepped toward me, and I smirked, taking another step back.

“We might be going somewhere other than Chance and Rylee’s.” Spinning around, I headed down the hall to his bedroom. I laid two garment bags on his bed and took the other to the closet to hang up for the other surprise I had planned for him later.

“Wifey, are you throwing me a birthday party?” he singsonged, watching me from where he leaned against his doorframe.

Exiting his walk-in closet, I jerked my chin toward the bags on his bed. “Open them up.”

Tyler looked like a kid at Christmas. His face lit up as he raced to the bed to unzip the bags. When he saw what was in them, he turned around, staring at me wide-eyed. “Are you for real?”

Laughing, I walked over to stand beside him and looked down at the garish amount of green and yellow that stared up at us. “I figured these were the perfect costumes for you and me. Even though yellow is so not my color. And I could never pull off red hair in real life.”

Reaching down for the short copper-colored wig, I placed it on my head. “What do you think?”

“I think you’ll look hot in this jumpsuit, even if it’s yellow, Miss O’Neil.” He reached down and grabbed the purple bandana from his bag and tied it around his head before he shouted, “Cowabunga, dude!”

Shaking my head, I leaned over to give him a brief kiss. “Next year, I’ve already decided we’re going as Cruella and a dalmatian.”

Tyler paused in taking the rest of his costume out of its bag. “Next year?”

My cheeks turned pink, the flush warming my skin as I turned and busied myself with taking out the rest of my outfit. “Yeah, you know. If I haven’t taken you to the pound by then.
